Building robots and life skills!
We are happy to support the Sky Piranhas robotics team! Several of our patients are members of this team that builds robots to compete at events. The Sky Piranhas are part of the "FIRST" (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program. This program helps students learn engineering and design skills, along with leadership and communication basics. We love that the goal of this program is to give students a hands-on experience working with real engineers, so scientists and engineers can be seen as role models just like professional athletes. Awesome!

Awesome special events arranged by "Coach D." included clinics put on by professional basketball coach Tom Newell. We are proud to sponsor the Kelly Elementary 3rd grade boys and girls basketball teams and share in the excitement as these new basketball stars take it to the net!

Braces by Dr. Joe and Dr. Rensch believe music is important. We are thankful to be able to help support the Beaumont Middle School Jazz Band. Every year the 7th and 8th grade bands combine and march in the Hollywood Veterans Day Parade through the neighborhood. Longtime band director, Cynthia Plank does an amazing job bringing music into the lives of Beaumont students and into the neighborhood on parade days!
Run for Sabin School

Run, Sabin School, Run!
The students at Sabin School did an amazing job at the 3rd Annual Run for Sabin School. Braces by Dr. Joe and Dr. Rensch gave a donation for every student who created a "Walkstarter" account to help raise funds for the school, and sponsored a pizza party for the class who raised the most money. Every dollar raised supports the success of all Sabin students. The rain came, but the runners did not care, they were having too much fun! Thank you Sabin School for allowing Braces by Dr. Joe and Dr. Rensch to participate in this great event.
Batty Book Drive
Posted: Nov 1st, 2017
In October patients brought in books to donate to the Children's Book Bank, a local non-profit that distributes gently used books to kids in the area with no books at home. Patients wrote the name of their favorite book on a bat and let it "fly" it on our purple wall. Donating books, earned patients extra *Bling, and a chance to enter into a drawing for a $100 Amazon Gift Card. The book drive was a lot of fun and helped many local kids. We are grateful for our awesome patients!
You can learn more about the Children's Book Bank at www.childrensbookbank.org. The quote below is from Jamie Ofstad, Development Manager for the Children's Book Bank.
"Your gift is making a difference for children in our community who are receiving books that encourage their imaginations to blossom; building curiosity and excitement for learning, and creating wonderful opportunities for special bonding time between parent and child. Thank you!"
Over 200 books were collected during the Book Drive.
All sorts of fun early childhood books were collected including books by Dr. Seuss.
Bats with the names of favorite books flew on the purple wall!

Overall $46,000 was raised by this fun event. Thank you to The Madeleine School for allowing Braces by Dr. Joe and Dr. Rensch to be a part of this fun day.
“Play Hard and Have Fun!” – GYB
Posted: Aug 25th, 2014
Dr. Joe has been a proud sponsor of Grant Youth Basketball since 2010.
Grant Youth Basketball (formerly the Laurelhurst Basketball Club) is a non-profit organization, committed to providing opportunities for boys and girls in the Grant Community to develop basketball skills in a sportsmanship-first environment. Founded by Coach Bernadette Diepenbrock, GYB follows her philosophy to "play hard and have fun!" This is a philosophy we embrace here at Braces by Dr. Joe!
Starting out as a league of 40 players in 2009, GYB has grown to serve hundred of kids each year through it's co-ed summer league (grades 5-8), skills clinics, and the Jr. Generals program (grades K - 4).
Dr. Joe has been GYB's longest standing and most loyal sponsor. Through his generous support (and the support of other locally owned businesses) GYB is able to offer fee assistance to students in need, so that GYB has never had to turn a player away from it's programs. GYB also provides much needed support to the Men's and Women's Basketball programs at Grant High School.
